To some, making a bed is a bit of an art form. What is the best way to layer a bed? Should both a fitted and flat sheet be used or should one opt for two flat sheets instead?  While some answers lie in personal preference, there is a current trend relating to “bedscaping” which involves paying close attention to how the layering of a bed is created.

Whether you have a twin, queen, or king bed, the same tips for creating a bed that is comfy, and cozy can be applied.

Here are some ways to create a “bedscape” from the bottom to the top.

First, begin with a well-made bed and a quality mattress as your foundation and then build your “bedscape”, with the help of the following elements.

  • Feather Bed or Mattress Topper
  • Mattress Cover
  • Fitted Sheet
  • Flat Sheet
  • Coverlet
  • Duvet Cover with Insert of Bedspread
  • Toss and Sleep Pillows
  • Blanket at foot of bed if needed
